Move over
The Joint Supply Coalition is a unified effort for everyone
in Birmingham, and outlying areas, to work together to meet
the needs of our city.
If we are united through Christ, we can accomplish the challenges
set before us. The reality is: our city has food insecurity. We
are responsible as followers of Christ to care for one another.
Hebrews 12 and 13 are packed with truths for this time.
Specifically, let us remember Hebrews 12:28-29 “therefore
let us be grateful for receiving a Kingdom that cannot be
shaken, and thus let us offer to God acceptable worship, with
reference and awe, for our God is a consuming fire.”
As followers of Jesus we are in a Kingdom that can not be shaken
so may His consuming fire continue to transform our lives and
the lives of every person in Birmingham.
Our worship in this time includes: singing to the Lord, praying
for one another and engaging our time effectively to impact
the Kingdom of God.
Some of us can serve from home, some can serve on the front lines,
others can serve with shared resources and finance. As Christian
business leaders, we are called by God to engage.
Hebrews 13:1 “let brotherly love continue”
We are petitioning all business leaders:
Spend time with Jesus. We need the wisdom that comes from God,
not human wisdom.
Listen in your prayer time and act on how Jesus leads you to
engage personally and in your business capacity.
Communicate with Martin Briggs of The ULECx Market of what you
or your business will bring to the table. Martin is our
designated liaison for all business leaders. His email is mbriggs@ulecx.com.
If you have confidential prayers, send those in and
our prayer teams will pray for you and your business.
As Hebrews 13:16 says: “Do not neglect to do good and to share
what you have, for such sacrifices are pleasing to God.”
It is time to be vulnerable.
It is time to be authentic.
It is time to be unified.
It is time to expect Revival in our city.
The simple explanation of how the food distribution will work
for our city is as follows:
We will have 2 main hubs to receive all supplies and donations:
Royal Divine Ministries in Wylam Ensley
Grace Klein Community in Hoover
We will begin by sending food from the main hubs to 3 distribution centers:
Fairfield
5 Points West
Titusville
We will grow to 12 total distribution centers with the other locations in:
Calera
Helena
Alabaster
Chelsea
Homewood
Vestavia and
Over the Mountain
The food will then be taken to drive thru distribution sites that are hosted
by churches or non-profit locations.
Volunteers will sign up as delivery drivers, be assigned a distribution
pickup point, retrieve the food for their assigned routes, and deliver
the food directly to the front doors of the elderly, disabled and others
with high food insecurity who do not need to leave their homes. The able
bodied will collect their own food from the drive thru.
Be assured of our vigilant work to comply with all recommendations of
the CDC in regards to public safety. Our safety protocols are above
standards and are being closely monitored by a university professor
who is on our team. We will maintain consistent protocols at all locations.
As an update – last week we provided food support for thousands of individuals
through our food drive thru. To give perspective to the urgency of our situation,
on Wednesday we served 185 individuals in the Grace Klein Community drive thru.
On Thursday that increased to 354 individuals and on Friday that number was at
1500 individuals. We are looking at a serious situation.
Equip us to run fast to address this crisis, funding our necessary essentials.
Together we can serve as a breadbasket, for the Lord, to care for our city.
We need immediate access or funding for the following items:
multiple refrigerated trucks
freezer/cooler electrical installs at main hub
metal shelving for stacking pallets of food
Multiple order pickers to easily maneuver pallets
40k pounds of food to be purchased weekly
any and all donated food
increased operating costs
warehouse and store front space in Hoover area, etc
Consider your entire career. Who do you know? What skills do you bring?
What resources can you share?
We love you Birmingham. We are the church and the church has left the building.
